The combination of Shimano's Di2 electronic groupsets and its E-TUBE PROJECT app provides unparalleled synchronization and customization between components, cycling computers, and smartphones. This integration allows riders to gather more data and fine-tune shifting performance whatever the ride. Unlock the full potential of Shimano's Di2 groupsets just by downloading and connecting your group to the E-TUBE PROJECT app.

Pair Your Bike’s Shifters and Derailleurs for Wireless Performance

For first-time E-TUBE PROJECT app users, you'll start by selecting your region and filling in basic information with the app. If you're setting up a 12-speed Di2 group, you’ll want to pair your bike’s shifters and derailleurs so the components can communicate and change gears wirelessly. If you purchased your bike as a complete bike, this pairing would likely have already been done by the manufacturer or bike shop where you bought your bike.

Shimano’s 12-speed Di2 systems communicate wirelessly between the shifters and derailleurs and can communicate directly with the E-TUBEPROJECT app for further pairing and customization. Shimano 11-speed Di2 groups can still use the E-TUBE PROJECT app for these customizations. However, these groups require a WU-111 “D-Fly” to be wired into the system in order to communicate wirelessly.

Customize Shift Patterns with E-TUBE PROJECT

Both 12- and 11-speed Shimano Di2 shifters can be programmed for different shift patterns, speeds, and characteristics. The E-TUBE PROJECT app contains a user-friendly interface for dialing in each detail.

  • Multi-Shift Mode - Allows riders to hold down a button to perform multiple gear changes at once.
  • Multi-Shift Speed – Riders can set how quickly the chain moves from cog to cog.
  • Synchro Shift Mode - Riders can select a specific gear ratio that will trigger the front derailleur to shift automatically.
  • Synchro Shift Speed – Riders can set how quickly the chain moves from chainring to chainring when in Synchro Shift Mode

Program Di2 Buttons with E-TUBE PROJECT

Di2 shifter buttons can be programmed for different functions and shift patterns to fit each rider's needs. The default Di2 shifter button settings are meant to mimic the actuation and feel of mechanical shifting.

Some riders using 1x11 or 1x12-speed setups or those using Di2’s Synchro Shift mode may prefer to keep their shift patterns simple by assigning both right-hand lever buttons to upshift and both left-hand lever buttons to downshift since no front shifting button is needed in these situations.

Additionally, DURA-ACE and ULTEGRA groups feature a third button on each shifter located on the top of each hood. Riders can program these to shift a derailleur, turn compatible bike lights on and off, or control features on other accessories like compatible cycling computers.

Control Cycling Computers and GPS from Shifters

Shimano's Di2 systems' integrated Bluetooth feature allows seamless connectivity with a wide range of popular cycling computers and GPS units. This allows certain actions on the computer to be controlled by a Di2 button, such as scrolling through different screens on the computer or hitting the lap button, so riders never need to take their hands off the bars to access their data or change screens. This feature comes in especially handy during workouts, where riders can start an interval without any delay in effort or power transfer.

Get More Real-Time Groupset and Shift Data

The integrated wireless connectivity of Shimano Di2 groupsets also allows for greater data gathering and post-ride analysis. The Di2 groupset can transmit real-time data like battery life, gear ratios, number of shifts, and more to a connected cycling computer screen. This info helps make informed ride decisions, while the stored data can help fine-tune training and gear choices upon further analysis.

Transfer Shift Programs to Different Bikes and Components

Shimano's E-TUBE app saves shift profiles within each user's profile, allowing riders to easily transfer or copy their personalized setup to new or additional bikes.

Additionally, you can create different bike profiles in the E-TUBE App for your variety of bikes with Di2 groups (gravel, road, touring, etc.). Each bike can be programmed using different shift patterns, allowing you to fine-tune shifting performance across your entire fleet of bicycles.
